Hot Spiced Cider

As the coming days begin to cool, what could be better than the scent of hot spiced wine or cider drifting through the house on a winter day? Today I'm sharing our family recipe.

BOZ GLOG
1 quart apple cider
2 cups cranberry juice or ( any fruit juice )
1 navel orange ( or 2-3 clementines ) sliced
4 -5 heaping Tablespoons of  Mulling spice
Small piece of cheese cloth for mulling spices.
Wrap spices in cheese cloth and add it to your cider mix.
Once you've added all of the ingredients to your crock pot set it to the highest setting for the first few hours, then lower the temp and let it simmer for the rest of the day.

*You can also substitute Cinnamon sticks for mulling spices in a pinch!

Start a batch in the crock pot ( or  large sauce pan ) early in the morning. By noon time you'll have something to sip that'll take the chill off your bones and warm you to your toes!

Perfect for an " at home " family day or any holiday celebration!

 Yummy!

  1. I love mulled cider.
I do not have any other hot drinks,no caffeine and a tea allergy,so it's a real treat in cool weather for me.
I have been mulling some a few days a week since the cold hit..I must try your version, it sounds yummy!!
Mine is just cider,a bit of brown sugar, cloves, allspice and cinnamon sticks.

  2. This sounds great. That's a lot of cider for two. But I am sill going to make it, it looks to good not to. Can you freeze it then have it later? If so I could just pop it in the microwave anytime I want it.

  5. Hello Deb!
Hot spiced cider is one of my favorite treats. We live in apple country at 4000ft elevation, so from October til January I make a lot of it. The hubby LOVES it more than any other hot drink. Yum.

But when I did it with the cider it was Great. You have to use the Cider! I have one bad thing to say. Its HOT !I burned my tongue. So please don't be like me. Wait a few minutes before drinking.
