English Cottage Kitchen Style ( from my pinterest) |
" A gentle and calming blend of herbs commonly used to soothe the nerves, including organic Chamomile flowers, organic Spearmint leaf, organic Lavender flowers, organic Cinnamon bark, organic Passionflower, and organic Rose petals. A wonderful beverage for meditation and quiet moments."
I've set up a coffee and tea station on my buffer under my newly hung corbels! I've got all sorts of teas in the jar, pumpkin spice coffee, cinnamon, raw sugar and Peace Tea at the ready...
Now that you've got your tea, I have something fun to show you! We've been finishing up some of our odds and ends projects in our own English Style Cottage Kitchen!
My corbels are finally painted and hung beneath my FREE yard sale cabinet which I painted black.
I love, love, love English Style decorating because it's eclectic and fun! It marries the old with the new and embraces collections galore. English style decorating allows a house to become a home over long stretches of time, ultimately creating a welcoming, casual, and comfortable, yet very personal atmosphere. Isn't that what homemaking is all about?
In this photo alone I've staged items from yard sales, antique stores, southern living, an art studio, gifts from friends and family,Walmart and TJ. Maxx to create a beverage center in my kitchen.
Don't be afraid to mix and match styles, time periods and re-purpose when ever you can! If you like it, it goes!
Happy Homemaking!
Love,
Deb

Hi Deborah!
ReplyDeleteI don't "take tea"...I guzzle it! LOL... iced tea from a mason jar. Does that count. I find it very refreshing. (I don't really guzzle either, unless its the middle of summer and I'm hot and thirsty)
But I must say...I like your inspiration picture and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR yard sale shelf and corbels. We've made some corbels here and there for our shelves and they're nothing fancy; but they make the shelves stand out. I love the touch that they add. I also love the BLACK! I have a mix of black and white in my kitchen and it is growing on my by the day!
enjoy your tea no matter how you have it.
Pat
Pat, you are a hoot! Guzzling counts!!! I love my mix of black, red and cream in our kitchen too... It's homey and dramatic at the same time!
ReplyDeleteAs always, thanks for your fun note!
You enjoy your tea too Pat! NO dribbling...
Love,
Deb
Being of British decent and having British parents tea is a must in our house always has been ! Here we like our Tetley tea no different flavors just tea flavor lol . I boil the kettle then pour the water in a tea pot with the tea bags and let it brew for a bit with a tea cozy on. My mum had china tea cups and saucers but for us it is just china cups no saucers not mugs they are thicker here we use mugs for coffee ! Your kitchen and tea/coffee station is lovely ! We here are what we call tea granny's as we drink it quite a lot through out the day . To us it is the best drink in the house and even better with short bread cookies or some pastries and cakes ! Have a wonderful day !
ReplyDeleteP.S , I collect English cottage style tea pots . I have a few that I and my Nana brought from England and the rest are from Antique shops .
ReplyDeleteHow could I forget the shortbread cookies??? Tea is always better with cookies and cakes! Loved your note Elaine! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI put the kettle on, warm the pot, fill it and sit down to enjoy tea whenever I have the time. I love all the china that goes along with it and I am a big time lover of cookies. Tea needs cookies...right? I loved this post, Deb. Your home is gorgeous and I love to see all your tea paraphernalia. I collect tea-pots and white china and just purchased a new step-back cupboard to show them off. Enjoy your tea. Deb
ReplyDeleteHi Deb,
DeleteI think displaying our finds is half the fun of collecting! Do a post when you get it all set up!!! Thanks for the visit!
That tea sounds good and I love your beverage station! I bet it makes brewing a pot of tea that much more enjoyable :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tammy. It does! Especially around the holidays...Thanks for the note!
DeleteI love it! It inspires me to do a "coffee" station....Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteGreat! Do a post when it's done! Thanks for visiting Christine!
DeleteI put the water in the kettle on the stove and wait patiently for it to come to a roaring boil...If I'm in the mood I will set a Tea tray with a pretty pot and Tea cup....or I will pull out a great large mug..It really depends on my mood..Either way I have been on tea every morning for the last three years. Since I couldn't drink coffee anymore I got panic disorder and they told me not to..But I always loved tea anyhow..I adore your newly painted cabinet looks great...well if your a baker I just posted a Tea bread to bake..come by and visit and get the recipe..would be nice to share with Mother in law...i recently have collected more tea cups and pots...I do love it...Happy Monday with love Janice
ReplyDeleteSounds just right Janice! I'll be right over to check out your Tea Bread! I'm sure we ( mil and I ) would love it! Thanks so much for your note...
DeleteOh, thanks for the tea...a quiet calm reflective moment is just what I needed after all the company left.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh....
DeleteI only drink tea when I'm sick - otherwise it lots and lots of coffee.
ReplyDeleteLove the corbels you added to that cabinet. It really makes that piece! Free is great! That whole area looks just beautiful. Love that huge red clock!!
You know I love seeing your garden and the chickens, but you really need to show the inside of your home more. It's so pretty!
I drink coffee too! Thanks for coming by to see my cabinet makeover...
DeleteI'll have to work on some more inside posts since you suggested it!
I'm working on a gallery of photos for behind our sofa and a few furiture re-do's at the moment!
Love the pictures of your new tea station. My daughter recently set up a coffee station in our home and a specific area for storing tea and sweeteners. We often use an electric kettle for heating water for tea and such - it heats up in just a couple minutes and is very useful when hot water is needed quickly.:)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sherry
P.S. Love the corbels beneath your shelf!
I've heard electric kettle's are wonderful... Enjoy your coffee station and your hot tea! Thanks for the visit :)

I love this kitchen! I have been inspired by the English Cottage style for years. I used to make draperies and was introduced to Colefax and Fowler by a decorator I worked for. That look has heavily influenced the interiors of every home that we've lived in including this one. I used some open shelving in my current kitchen and really love it ~ it allows me to show off my red transferware. I'm a heavy tea drinker. My husband and I have at least two pots every morning. He takes his black and I like mine with a slice of lemon.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jenny! I love red transferware too and I've started to collect it. My mother in law has the English Castle Pattern... I have fond memories of eating on those lovely dishes when we went to her house!
DeleteThanks for the visit!
Very nice. I make my own tea from my garden. It is great with toast and jam.
ReplyDeleteOh, I bet it's delicious Bonnie! Yes, toast and jam with tea is always good! Thanks for the note!
DeleteI love cottage english style, great post! Made me feel all cozy, and now I'm going to have some tea with my son :)
ReplyDeleteHi Abby Jo! Enjoy your tea!
ReplyDeleteThe cabinet is beautiful. It would be a little to high for me, tho.
ReplyDeleteIt is cold here and I have been drinking tea, too.
Hi Deborah Jean
ReplyDeleteMy first visit to your place via Kim (Savy South...) I love your cabinet and think the corbels definitely finish the look. Definitely love the cozy look
I am anxious to now go and explore the rest of your blog!!!! Your floral curtains caught my eye and now I need to see more. lol
Have a fun week
Sincerely, Jeannette
Hi Jeannette! Welcome! So nice to have you here!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Deb
Thanks for the tea! I think I'd love to have tea there!! I can't believe your shelf was free at a garage sell and you added the corbels underneath. So so smart! Looks great! Happy to be a new follower!
