Whew doggies it's hot out! And humid too! But, some flowers need the heat turned up for maximum blooms! Like the one pictured above. My mom whipped up this hand-painted beauty for me as a mothers day gift this year and I adore it! She painted it with acrylic paint on a 6x8 canvas...I think she should paint some more of these so I'm encouraging her to keep the canvas wet and her brush filled with the colors of summer!
I love the contrast of all the bright colors popping against the black background.
What sorts of ' arsty fartsy' things do you like to do inside during the heat of the summer? I've got some unfinished sewing to do... I'm making pillows and a window valance for the cottage this week! I've had this project on the back burner waaaaaay too long now! I'll keep ya posted!
Stay cool and be sure to keep the folks out in the blazing west in your prayers.

Your new header looks nice, Deborah. Your Mother's Day gift is beautiful. Happy sewing.
Thank you Robyn. I think I'll keep it until fall! Thanks for the visit! stay cool!
I like the new header! And your Mom's painting is beautiful! Painting is something I don't do and I admire the ones who do! I am staying cool by lots of sewing, a little crochet and today, cleaning off bookshelves before we start school next month! STay cool!
Thanks! Donna, those all sound like great inside things to do...Good to get a head start on organizing for another school year too!:)
I know what you mean! My hubby and I have a bunch of projects we save "for a rainy day", but they still never get done ! Mine are organizing the pantry, sewing, and a cross stitch project that I probably won't finish for a long time! I told my husband I will get it done for our 50th wedding anniversary (we are just coming up on anniversary #1, so I have a while!!) :)
The new header is a big hit, Deborah. If I could paint a picture of beauty and grace, I would paint this scene. As I recall, your daughter took the photo in the header, making three generations of creative women! Your mom's flower it striking! At first, I thought it was on tile.
That's funny Jane, Yes, you've got plenty of time...! Pace yourself, you don't to be in too much of a hurry! LOL!
Well thanks! It was actually my son who took the photo but my daughter takes lovely photos too! I'm glad you like my moms flower... it is striking isn't it? I can see it on napkins, paper cups, pillows,a calender, notepads, greeting cards etc.. and your idea for tiles is very interesting! We'll have to investigate that too! Thanks for the kind words!
