The QUEEN of Wildflowers~

Wild and Wonderful? Or just a weed?

I  love the wonderful weed known as Queen Anne's Lace.

Recently, I've noticed it growing wild everywhere I look!

I've spotted it by the roadsides near my home and highway, in nearby fields, along walkways and on the shoulder of the road to our cottage.

Something about QUEEN ANNE'S LACE has captivated me!

Maybe it's the casual way it spills over a sidewalk that has me gawking as I drive by. Or the way it wraps itself around a telephone pole striking an elegant pose?

Or perhaps it's the way it beautifies an other wise UN attractive busy corner street giving us something pretty and graceful to appreciate while we are stopped in busy traffic?

The QUEEN looks just as happy in groups as she does playing solitaire.

I hit the jackpot when I found an entire field of it with the blue waters of Cape Cod Bay in the background. If I had more time I'm sure I could have found more fields of Queen Anne's Lace growing wild on a few of our local farms here in New England.

Maybe it's just the way it looks simply perfect growing wild, right where they are?

If you're like me and have fallen in love with this old fashioned wildflower click here to learn more about where you can purchase seeds for your own garden! I've got a spot in mind...How about you?

What do you think? WILD and WONDERFUL? Or just a weed ?

Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them.

* A note about the photos. All but the LAST one were taken by me in the heat and bright light of a high summer mid day! Picture me the amateur photographer whipping my car off to the side of the road so I could snap a quick pick of the QUEEN... The QUEEN in front of the light house was taken by my dearly beloved... He's got an eye for beauty don't ya think?

Definitely WILD and WONDERFUL! I especially love it because I like a more *wild and natural* garden anyway. It does tend to take over so I can see how some gardeners might want to avoid it or keep it in bounds.

I love how intricate and delicate it is. It's a great flower to press and to use in dried arrangements.

Did you know it is also edible?

happy day!

That's one vote for wild and wonderful! I learned the root of the plant is edible because it's actually a carrot! The plant has some medicinal uses but can also be poisenous if too much is ingested. Plucked right from the field, it also makes a quaint country wedding table decoration!

I love the photo of the Queen Anne's Lace in the forefront of the Lighthouse. It is beautiful! All the pictures are great, but the lighting and composition of that one is especially lovely.

Thanks for listing me as one of your blog inspirations! :)
I'm in a make-over stage right now, so my blog does not look too cute!

Oh Deb, you've thown me a curve!! I was fiddling with my blog past midnight last night and I don't know how I added that option! I have tried to find it so I could tell you and I haven't had any luck. I'll let you know when I find out :) Thanks for checking out my new look! (still working on it, however).

In Indiana, it is a weed. I have known this for 65 years. I like the way it looks and if you cut one, put it on black velvet and frame it, it is quite lovely. but it gives me a severe headache when I smell it. Then found out it is in the parsley family and I can't eat that either . It is to bitter to me. But yes she is very prolific and has a lacey beauty about her. judi B.
