Mother's day is days away ( May 11th)  and I just had to share this simple Made to Match apron pattern I picked up at Joanne's Fabric Store last week. It's a Kwik Sew Apron pattern for Misses, Girls, and dolls too. Spring is taking it's sweet time to warm up here in the northeast so I'm gonna do some a little inside " sewing" while I wait things to warm up outside.
I couldn't get enough of all the beautiful floral patterns available for quilting, crafting, and sewing. If my budget would have allowed I could have gotten really carried away, but, I was able to restrain myself and chose 12 different patterns for a total of 6 Misses sized aprons.
My mom is going to sew along with me. She's making three and I'm making three.
The larger pattern  in the following photos will make up the body of the apron and the smaller, contrasting print will make up the large hem on the bottom and the pocket.

 

I love this modern red, black and white colorway. It's modern, fresh and funky!

Have you noticed all the orange-y, coral-y, color in fashion and home decor lately? While I love all things faded, time worn and well loved, I am equally crazy about COLOR. This fabric makes me feel as if summer is already in full swing. I swear I could hear the bees buzzing around me when I pulled it off of the shelf at the store.

This one is just about as cheery and inspiring as it gets...It's covered in bold and encouraging sweet sayings that make you feel young and as if anything is possible! 

Who wouldn't want to be covered in that while you work?

The vintage apron I'm giving away came from the Queen Bee herself, sister # 1 Mary Jane Butters! 
Being the generous farmgirl she is she donated a big box of vintage aprons to me to sell in my booth and I kept one very special apron out for this occasion.

  
 This vintage apron is made with a delicate crisp blue and red cotton flower print edged in white rick-rack. It's in perfect wearable condition with two pockets for collecting eggs, or garden gloves. Ready to wear or add to your apron collection!

"The apron's body is made from a muted sky blue and white floral print with large cabbage roses and tree blossoms on it.  A full length apron featuring a lovely contrasting red and white polka dot ruffle around the skirt, ties, and front left pocket. This design/print was the first Maryjane's Farm apron I ever bought.  I still have my original one.  It's very special to me.  It reminds me of my Grandma Pearl.  I was so excited to find this apron again that I got two- one for my "stash" and one for the Original Farmgirl Friday blog hop's 100th Birthday Bash Giveaway!!!

Junebug -The blog hop has turn into my Friday night comfort reading. It allows me to take off into dreamland! I have a statement currently on my chalkboard that states, "Don't Stop Dreaming, Start doing"! I read it every morning as I sit and drink my coffee. I may not be able to have the dream farm but I am turning my little backyard into my mini dream! I have met several gals from blogging and feel so lucky and blessed to call them friends now! As far as new hobbies, it's more renewed my interest in hand work like embroidery. I've always had a garden and my "girls", hens!!!

VINTAGE Tablecloth Pillow Tutorial

Dear friends,

 If you've been with me for a while you already know that I've been on the hunt of late to fill up my booth space at the Antique Mall in my home town. I've been gathering in vintage tablecloths, feed sacks, flour sacks and grain sacks to have on hand for making pillows. I'm especially drawn to anything with bold, colorful FLOWER ( you know me and flowers ) prints. Lucky for me, this seems to have been  ' the thing" back in the day! Today I'm sharing a simple pillow project that I whipped up using a piece of vintage table cloth fabric. If this pattern doesn't put a skip in your deep winter step I don't know what would other than maybe a trip to the Bahama's.

Don't rule out a table cloth if it has minor light staining on it. It's possible to remove some stains with a heavy duty cleaner such as  Lestoil ( my hubby told me about it) but if your tablecloth is large enough you can use it as a cutter for crafts or home decor items which is what I did with this one. I already had a 20 x 20 down filled pillow form on hand which I purchased at Ikea for 7.00 each. It's a quality pillow form and makes my old/new pillow look and feel like a luxurious modern day item with homespun appeal.

 

No pattern necessary! 

• measure and cut your fabric in to a 22 x 22 square.
• turn fabric inside out and sew three sides together with a 1 inch seem allowance.
• leave a large enough opening to insert your pillow form.
• turn fabric right side out and insert pillow.
• pin opening together and sew it closed by hand or with your machine. 

Up-cycled vintage tablecloths make adorable cafe' curtains, valances, aprons, tote bags even framed artwork! 

And, if you are lucky to find some that are in " mint " condition they make wonderful wedding gifts for your retro loving friends!
