Farmgirl Friday blog hop # 63

Welcome one and all to the Farmgirl Friday blog hop # 63! The place where romance meets rustic, fields flourish, bee's buzz and backyards bustle with farmgirl/guy ingenuity every day of the week!
If you're the sort that likes to can it, bake it, cook it, grow it, raise it, and share it... read on!
There's so much to learn from this online community of kindred spirits!

As for this farmgirl, life is busy but good! Everything is planted and thriving here at Dandelion House, thank goodness... The veggie garden was the last to go in this year due to the cut flower garden taking priority, but if all goes well we'll have plenty of tomatoes to share!  The seedlings I started in the greenhouse all did great. I have a feeling I'll  be wanting send you some through the ether's come harvest time!
As if we didn't have enough going on in the farmyard here at home, we decided to put in a small community garden at the BEACH this year!

Promise not to laugh... I just planted it a few days ago and it just looks so puny compared to others who got started a month ago! Better late than never.... right? I'm trying cuc's, peppers, tomatoes, sweet basil, zucchini, onions and snap beans.

A friend of ours ( a wise organic farmer ) shared this great plant marker tip with me ( and some of his cast-off mini-blinds ). Snap off a section of mini- blinds long enough for one end to stick into the dirt and the other to write the plant name. Use a permanent marker ( or water proof pen ). SIMPLE!

Like so!

Join me on the shorelines for some " early summer " Farmgirl Ramblings in my latest entry:Mud-puppies and Horseshoe Crabs!

Okay! Now it's your turn to share what's happening in your farmgirl world!!!

1.) Write a post about your farmgirl lifestyle and brag a little about your farmgirl talents while your at it! Share what being a farmgirl means to you. Include lots of photos of your farm, crafts, animals, quilts, home decor projects and thrifty make overs, your backyard garden, chicken coop, recipes, studio or workshop. You get the idea!

2). Leave your entry in the Mr. Linky space to your Farmgirl Friday post.

3). Please include the Farmgirl Friday button ( or link back here ) in your post and remember to share this hop with all of your blogging friends!

Have a great week everyone and thank you so much for all you share here every Friday!

Farmgirl Blessings to all!

Oh, I love love love everything about this post! Your community garden at the beach...doggone, now I want to be one of your neighbors!!! (I'm in the mega-suburbs of Chicago...it's hard for a nature-loving girl, let me tell ya!)

I will be peeling off a number of mini-blinds as we prep my mil's house for sale...I'm so grateful for the tip you shared! Will take a big zipperlock baggie with me and some tin-snips...yahoo!

Blessings,
Lori

Happy Weekend Deborah Jean.

You are off to a great start, and even though you say you are a bit late in getting in the garden, it takes off quickly in the summer weather. I am putting in more tomatoes this weekend. I pulled up the old sunflowers and have about 4 feet of space. I can't waste that so more tomatoes will go in.

I love the blind plant marker idea. I have an old one in the garage and will use this idea. Thank you for sharing it! I find the best information from country gals!

Have a wonderful day!

Hi Carla,
You're right about the late start with warmer weather... In some ways its' better than fretting over whether it's too cold or wet for things to get off to a good start! Thanks so much for the visit!

My pleasure Deana! Happy weekend!

I have been using mini blinds for years as it is such a great idea, but I use pencil to mark them then I can erase and reuse them. For some reason I find the permanent pens fade in the sun and the pencil never does. Try both and see what you think.

That's a very clever and frugal idea for plant markers. Love it! (I just shared it on Your Gardening Friend's Facebook page.)

Thanks!!
