FALL is right around the corner and it's my all time favorite season to boot! I haven't done a lick of seasonal decorating yet because I'm still up to my eyeballs ( literally) in yard flowers. Farmgirl Friday blog hop # 73

Apron Patterns
Welcome to the 73rd Farmgirl Friday blog hop friends! If you're reading this that means you've survived the first few back to school days and you're ready to hitch up another fine post sure to make us hungry, try a new recipe, or a new decorating idea and learn to grow something new in our gardens next year!
Now that the temps have dropped some I can actually 'cook'  again. Yahoo! This week lightlycrunchy's entry titled Saving Summer caught my eye. She shared her Roasted Garden Vegetable Sauce recipe created from her home grown harvest. It looked so easy and delicious ( plus I had a bowl full of tomatoes increasing the fruit fly population in our kitchen to almost swarm status) I had to give it try. I'm so glad I did cuz we've eaten it twice this week two different ways and It couldn't have been easier to make. The first night I served it Ala vegetarian, spooned over whole grain pasta with a Cesar salad. The second time around I turned up the heat by adding chunks of hot Italian sausage to the sauce and putting it on a slow simmer for a couple of hours before spooning it over pasta.  It was excellent both ways and got the thumbs up from the whole family!

Roasted Garden Veggie Sauce ( LIGHTLY CRUNCHY)
( Candy C. of Lazy J Bar C Farm )  won me over with her COWBOY COOKIE recipe and her post had me in stitches.  Thank you Candy C for your wonderful recipe!
I'm off to bake a batch!  YUM!

A DAY of FIRSTS

The Little Red School House
Are your kids back to school or not back to school?  After homeschooling our two children for eleven years our youngest stepped onto a school bus for the first time as a freshmen in high school this year!  We had to sleep on it for nearly a year before making the final decision but as I sit here with my coffee in hand I can tell you with a happy heart that WE ( she and I ) were ready for the change. Today will be a day of many firsts for her and for me... While she's learning the combination to her locker, making new friends and meeting her teachers, I'll be learning new things too! I've got a college bound student still at home finishing out his home/high school education  and a bushel of tomatoes from the garden I need to do something with!

Today I'm making my FIRST BATCH of homemade marinara sauce and our FIRST college visit is already on the calender!
I'll squeeze in a few pages on my FIRST book titled " Yard Flowers "  and before I know it she'll be home.
I can't wait to hear all about her FIRST day! Everything... good, bad or otherwise.
I'd better get the maters on to boil!
Have a wonderful day friends!
Here's to FIRSTS!

Tell me,  do you home school YOUR YOUNG'UNS or have you BEEN home-schooled? I'd love to hear how your FIRST days back are going too!

Love to all!
