The NEW 2016 Farm Girl Friday Blog Hop

Dear farmgirls,

This post to you has been sitting in my drafts folder for weeks. You may have noticed that the Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop has been quite sporadic over the last couple of months and I'm sorry about that. Hosting the Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop has been an important highlight of my blogging career and although it's been hard to admit to myself, I just don't have time to keep it going on a regular basis. But don't despair! I'm turning over the reigns to Debbie ( my co-host ) over at Farmgirl Unleashed! You'll be in good hands. Debbie and her husband farm at Big Sky Acres in Indiana. Debbie writes about her new farm-life experiences as she unleashes her inner farmgirl.

Starting next Friday, Feb 12th Debbie will begin hosting the NEW Farm Girl Friday Blog Hop. You'll get a new button to share in your posts and Debbie let me know that she'll be looking for a new co-hostess to help corral some new farmgirls to the hop.

Both of us want to thank you all for joining in every Friday and we look forward to seeing you every week going forward. I'll still be here... tapping away and I'll be popping by the hop to say howdy and share some of my flower farming posts too!

So, for old times sake, let's link up one last time from Dandelion House, for some good old-fashioned farmgirl soul food!

Farmgirl hugs!!!

Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop # 163 and Homestead Cookbook Survey!

Happy Farmgirl Friday! What a week it's been here in New England. We've had picture perfect weather ( minus one afternoon rain shower) pleasant temps in the high 70's, no humidity and just the right amount of a sea breeze blowing to make it feel like summer. Kind of unusual for these parts, so we are relishing in our good weather fortune while it lasts. Speaking of relish, what better time to kick off a new Homestead Cookbook than in the growing season? After three plus years of everyone gathering here each Friday, sharing all things farmgirl AND delicious homestead recipes I've been inspired to put together a cookbook featuring YOUR homestead stories and recipes. To gauge interest in this little ole project of mine, I've created a survey which is linked to the button above in my sidebar.
I hope you'll take the time to take the survey, share a recipe, your  homestead story and be a part of The Homestead Cookbook anthology. It's sure to inspire homesteaders old and new alike! Oh, and please feel free to share the  button and link to the survey too!

Now it's time to get your farmgirl on! Link up and strut your gardening, cooking, crafting, farming, DIY, up cycling, STUFF!!!

Debbie at Farmgirl Unleashed  and my Co-hostess in Farmgirl Friday crime became a first time Grammie last week. She's home and ready to unleash her inner farmgirl ( and probably get her very leggy tomatoes planted) ...!

It's the season of plenty and there is so much to celebrate!

As always, we thank you for your participation in the Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop!

Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop # 162 and SUMMER HAPPENINGS

Happy Farmgirl Friday friends! You may be wondering, what do Summer Seas have to do with farmgirlin'? Well, we all need a break from our homesteading and backyard gardening chores and time to reflect on all we have accomplished this spring. I'm welcoming in summer on the shorelines over on my MaryJanesFarm Beach Farmgirl Blog with a visit to The Cape Cod National Sea Shore. It's a lovely time to visit before the summer visitors descend on Cape Cod.

But wait, before you grab your flip flops and summer hats and head for the beach, stop by The Survival Mom's Radio Network and listen to my podcast interview with our farmgirl friend Karen Lynn from Lil' suburban Homestead. I was so honored to be her guest this week and it was fun to learn a little about podcasting too! If you have some time this weekend listen in on some of Karen's past shows where she shares why she cans, and how she and her husband made a recycled greenhouse for under $ 400 dollars!

I had the pleasure of having Karen over to Dandelion House for an in depth interview about her family homestead too. More here

Debbie at Farmgirl Unleashed  and my Co-hostess in Farmgirl Friday crime became a first time Grammie this week. She's on duty this week helping her daughter and family settle and and will join us next week. Congratulations to all!

Now, let's get hop'n! Whatcha been up to this week?

Link up and share your crafts, gardens, home remedies, recipes, and homesteading wisdom with your favorite farmgirls! It's the season of plenty and there is so much to celebrate!

As always, we thank you for your participation in the Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop!

Tasty Tuesday~ Mini Cherry Pie Cookie Bites

I know it's still very, very hot in some places so if you're still on strike from baking be sure to  bookmark this easy recipe for Mini Cherry Pie Cookies  for a " cooler " time.

This weeks Tasty Tuesday recipe comes from Lisa's homestead kitchen/ Feathers in the Woods Blog.

Lisa  shares her simple recipe for  re-creating  those tasteless mini cherry fruit bites which are so tempting at the store but oh so disappointing once you get them home and bite into one. They just never taste as good as something homemade do they?

And look at the difference in appearance. Lisa's homemade Mini Cherry Pie Cookie Bites look so much better than the packaged store-bought variety.
Do I have your attention? Good... Now get on over to Lisa's blog for her fabulous tutorial!
I'm thinking I'm gonna make some for desert tonight!

Tasty Tuesday~ Cottage Coffee

Welcome to Tasty Tuesday at Dandelion House! Your go- to spot for trying something new, healthy, and frugal ( with a pinch of pretty) each week in your homestead kitchen.

This weeks Tasty Tuesday recipe comes straight from the Cottage. Our cottage! This is the time of year we give way to a simpler life. Cottage Life! Our summer cottage is off grid so we make-do with  an old fashioned looking percolator coffee pot.Our model comes from Paula Deans Kitchen Collection. Here's the recipe!

Cottage Coffee

Fresh ground coffee of your choice. ( We use DE-cafe Hazelnut cuz it's our favorite)!
Cold tap water
For 5-6 cups of coffee you'll need a minimum of 1/3  - 1/2 cup coffee grounds.
( more if you like your coffee strong )

Never fill up your coffee pot above the holes on the inside of the pot.
It'll boil over every time. Trust me, I know!
Boil for 8 - ten minutes then turn off the burner and let the water drip down into the pot.
Serve hot right off the stove or pour into a coffee carafe to keep it hot!

We like to dip chocolate biscotti into our coffee... It's our Cottage Coffee treat!

Cream and sugar?

Welcome friends ( old and new ) to week # 117 of the Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop!
Are you all staying cool? It's been so darned hot and humid here but I've got the ' cure '.

3 navel oranges
3 lemons
2 limes
Garnish with Fresh Mint if desired!

Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop # 108 and Mother's Day Hugs!

Welcome back to the Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop # 108  friends!
I just love Friday's for the simple reason we all get to gather together to share what's new.
If this is your first visit to Farmgirl Friday, WELCOME! We hope you'll stay and enjoy the amazing links that are shared here weekly. In fact, why not click that friend button or subscribe? You'll love the Farmgirl Friday community of friendly bloggers and I don't want you to miss a single helpful, inspiring, heartwarming, post!

Have you gotten your mothers day shopping done yet? Sh. I got my mom a gorgeous hot pink/reddish Knock Out Rose bush from the supermarket garden center. They are one of the easiest to grow and care for as far as landscape roses go available. Every year I get her something new for her garden and then I give her my " garden services" throughout the year. Speaking of flowers.

Brenda from Ladybug Dreams created this amazing BLOOMING bag with fabric from the PB and J Moda Fabric line. This bag would be perfect for a one night sleep over, a trip to the flea market or supermarket, or a nice bag for a day out of shopping your favorite haunts!

I am crazy in love with this fabric!

I'm wishing all my bloggin' mama's a very Happy Mother's Day with those you love most!
Hug all of your babies tight and count your blessings. They are many!

Let's get hoppin' shall we?
