Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop #208 and Happy Halloween!

Happy Farmgirl Friday!

Oh, it did our hearts good to see you all last week! Thanks for comin' round to share your farmgirl talents with us again.  I confess I don't have any cute Halloween crafts or treats to share this week. We had company from Reno, Nevada last week so we were out and about sight seeing all up an down the south coast and Cape Cod enjoying fall in New England. Everywhere you go, people are saying the color hasn't been this beautiful in years and I agree.

I had to pull over and get a quick pic of this charming little red cape all gussied up for fall. We're also in the middle of a bathroom remodel and putting the garden to bed. I've got dahlias to dig and store and a fallen down greenhouse to clear out before winter comes. Life is GOOD!

Debbie's been busy canning of all things, right in the middle of her kitchen remodel. Now, that's some serious farmgirl'n! As the old saying goes, " where there's a determined farmgirl, it shall be done ". Okay, maybe it's not an old saying, but it's true!

Speaking of determined and talented farmgirls, it's time to renew my subscription to MaryJanesFarm Magazine. Yes, this IS a shameless plug for my favorite magazine in the whole world. It just gets better with every issue... and that's a lot of issues. 15 years and counting of farmgirl inspiration!

I couldn't pick a favorite from last weeks hop. I loved each and every entry. So many hit home and inspired me to get moving. I need to make marinara sauce, I cleaned my closet yesterday, ( not photo worthy, but clean), I'm still decorating for fall, and I'm always looking for new homesteading and decorating ideas. Thanks for covering all the bases, once again!

Let's hop farmgirls!

Now, where did I put my witches hat?

Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop # 207

Howdy friends! Welcome back to the Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop!
Your place to share your best recipes, crafts, DIY projects, farm stories, farm animal tips, and vintage treasures and what ever else you fancy.

I hope you are all settling in to fall. It's such a wonderful time of year for getting out and enjoying milder weather, beautiful scenery and delicious food that celebrates harvest season.

Where have we been the last month? I apologize for going missing. This farmgirl had her hands busy with all things flowers this year and somehow our little ole hop ended up at the bottom of the pile. It was a season of growth inside and out!
Apple Stuffed Acorn Squash with Craisins
It's about to get cold and dark out and we're gonna need each-other over the long winter months ahead. To spice things up in our kitchen, I promised myself I would make more " new recipes" rather than fall-back on my old stand-by meals. This week I made a delicious Apple Stuffed Acorn Squash with Craisins and boy was it yummy! I found the recipe online in MaryJanesFarm Recipe of the
Week. You can read all about it in my Beach Farmgirl post here.

What have you been cooking up now that the weather has a chill in it? Do tell!

My farmgirl co-hostess, Debbie and I have missed our hop so let's get to it!

Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop # 162 and SUMMER HAPPENINGS

Happy Farmgirl Friday friends! You may be wondering, what do Summer Seas have to do with farmgirlin'? Well, we all need a break from our homesteading and backyard gardening chores and time to reflect on all we have accomplished this spring. I'm welcoming in summer on the shorelines over on my MaryJanesFarm Beach Farmgirl Blog with a visit to The Cape Cod National Sea Shore. It's a lovely time to visit before the summer visitors descend on Cape Cod.

But wait, before you grab your flip flops and summer hats and head for the beach, stop by The Survival Mom's Radio Network and listen to my podcast interview with our farmgirl friend Karen Lynn from Lil' suburban Homestead. I was so honored to be her guest this week and it was fun to learn a little about podcasting too! If you have some time this weekend listen in on some of Karen's past shows where she shares why she cans, and how she and her husband made a recycled greenhouse for under $ 400 dollars!

I had the pleasure of having Karen over to Dandelion House for an in depth interview about her family homestead too. More here

Debbie at Farmgirl Unleashed  and my Co-hostess in Farmgirl Friday crime became a first time Grammie this week. She's on duty this week helping her daughter and family settle and and will join us next week. Congratulations to all!

Now, let's get hop'n! Whatcha been up to this week?

Link up and share your crafts, gardens, home remedies, recipes, and homesteading wisdom with your favorite farmgirls! It's the season of plenty and there is so much to celebrate!

As always, we thank you for your participation in the Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop!

Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop # 157 & Sunflowers

Welcome back to the Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop week # 157! The weather has been just lovely this week here in Plymouth, Ma. Sunny and warm with mild spring breezes ( without the chill factor ) welcome me outside to plan, dream and plant.  I always purchase my seeds early so I can be sure to get my favorites. This years Sunflower garden is sure to be spectacular with these varieties bringing cheer and delight to the garden and my yard flower bouquets, not to mention the birds and the bee's!
I've grown Drop Dead Red

 and Autumn Beauty

before but the Florists Sunny Bouquet is a new variety I'm trying out! I always have great luck with Botanical Interests Seeds... They have a high germination rage and the blooms do not disappoint! I should be able to sew these any day now in my raised beds. If you have a sunny patch in your yard give these summer beauties a try!

The rush is on to get things in the ground! Debbie of Farmgirl Unleashed  ( my co- hostess and farmgirl in crime ) and I are anxious to see what you've all been up to this week!  Show us what cha got!

Gifts from the Chicken Coop~ Just in time for Easter

If you keep chickens, even a small flock, those farm fresh eggs will soon be taking up valuable storage space in your frig. Backyard chickens keepers can go from zero fresh eggs by the end of winter to multiple cartons in a few short weeks after the arrival of spring. That's why I love to gussy up a few cartons of eggs and give them away to family and friends on Easter Sunday.

I know Easter colors are usually soft and pastel-y but I just love traditional farm-y red and white gingham. So off I went to my local Michael's Craft Store to gather supplies!

One roll of red and white wired ribbon, ( any width )

small little yellow rose buds ( with floral wire attached for easy assembly)  and

brown paper gift tags ( any color or size )

Oh, and fresh eggs of course!!!

The possibilities are endless for what you could use to gift wrap a carton of eggs.

Sh. Don't  tell my mom about the eggs! I want to surprise her!
Enjoy!

Plus, I've got a long list of DIY projects for inside! This is the year we are FINALLY going to finish our ECO-FRIENDLY kitchen re-do we started a few years ago. Happy Farmgirl Friday!  Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop #143. 143 weeks sure sounds like a long time but whose counting?  We can't wait to meet here every week so we can catch up with our farmgirl blogging friends from the far corners of the world. This time of year is always exciting.  As the days grow lighter and longer there's lots of seed talk, which is basically the same thing as pillow talk to a farmgirl! Whisper sweet nothings in my ear about GMO FREE, heirloom and organic seeds of any kind and my heart starts to race, my pupils dilate and I begin fantasizing about plowing up some poor unsuspecting patch of lawn before the ground even has a chance to thaw out!

Before we get hopping let's welcome new bloggers Wendy Miller of the blog The Crafty Cultivator
and Crochet Hooks a mother and daughter are making duo!

Farmgirl Friday Blog Hop # 140

Happy Farmgirl Friday! Welcome back to your favorite hop of the week!
It's time to get the kettle whistling, find your comfy chair with your laptop or i pad and call on your farmgirl ( and boy ) friends from far and wide!

Last weeks hop ran the gamete! There were many top ten posts for 2013. It's always good practice to take some time to review and celebrate last years accomplishments. I'll be sharing more  fun and creative ways to do this in a future post, but for now let's just give ourselves a pat on the back for all we accomplished and shared in 2013!
With a new year also comes new farm babies! Congratulations is in order for the new baby goats that were born or are on the way!
And, we can always count on seeing homesteading goals for the coming year! Planning anything new is always so exciting isn't it? Speaking of planning, I took a fabulous virtual workshop this week  with Laura West Center for Joyful Business and I learned a brand new CREATIVE way of planning out my year! I'll have a full post on Monday and tell you all about it with pictures and everything!

I don't want to keep you another minute! It's time to link up for your weekly dose of farmgirl soul-food!
